Special GB fails to ratify 2005 amendments

Due to procedural issues cited by some members, the special GB held on 30th May 2009 at B.R.Singh Hospital failed to reach unanimity to re-ratify the 2005 amendments of the constitution. The GB was called to meet certain stipulations of WB Socieities Registration Act and Rules . Drs Pushpita Sahu, Pradeep Bakshi, Ramendra Lal Saha, Abhijit Ghosh, Ratish Pal, Prasanta Chakrabarty and Kajal Ghosh took to the podium to appeal for unanimity and re-ratification. It was later decided to reconvene another GB meeting on this issue. The VP election was also postponed till the constitutional impasse was resolved. The house unanimously ratified the terms and conditions for acquiring the ground floor property at JIMA building.

Registering the Constitution

The task of registering the OSWB Constitution with the Registrar of Societies went a step farther when the OSWB office received a permission from the Registrar of Societies to alter the memorandum of association. The amendments of 2005 to both the rules and the memorandum of association had earlier been accepted and ratified by the OSWB GB meeting a number of times. The executive committee is working hard to completing all procedures in registering the amended constitution with the Registrar of Societies as per WB Societies Regisration Rules 1963.
